ALL EYES ON YOU



Ever since I have bought this jacket I have only worn it twice I think. TWICE, can you believe that? I guess I just somehow keep forgetting its existence... Don't even really know why or how because I'm still madly in love with this piece! So I decided, something pretty like this deserves more attention. Therefore this post. Here we go lil shaggie, the stage (blog) is all yours! By keeping the rest of my outfit clean all eyes are on the jacket, and that's exactly what you want when wearing a statement piece like this.

MY BLUE KIMONO


Morning monkeys! What have you been up to? Any exciting news I need to hear about? Today I'm showing you one of my favorite summer buys: my blue kimono. My sister mentioned that this post should be having more pictures, to show more of the total outfit (I was wearing a bikini underneath - go figure - two different prints, really cute if you ask me). I totally agree with her on that part! Unfortunately this wasn't one of my best shooting days - don't we all know those 'off days'? - and when we shot these the sun was going down so we didn't have that much time. A shortage of time + shooting an outfit + an off day + me = not that many useable pictures. 
Long story short (am I rambling yet?), even though I can't show you much of this look, I still wanted to show you this kimono. Such an easy way to cover up with when you're going to the pool, beach or actually just to about anywhere if the weather allows you to. These kind of items don't only look good with a bikini, but also combined with jeans shorts and a T-shirt they rock!

LA SALOPETTE



La Salopette is French for dungarees. You must be thinking that my French has improved since I have spent two weeks on French land, but that is far from the truth. The house we rented was located in the Dordogne, somewhere practically in the middle of nowhere (a beautiful area - really quiet and peaceful in comparison to the Amsterdam city life) so I didn't get to practice much. (I don't consider ordering six croissants et deux baguettes as a heavy practice). So thank god for Google translate, which made it possible for me to enter this cute French title. 
Anyhow, being back in Amsterdam feels good (I always love to be reunited with my own bed, and friends of course). However, I would be lying if I would say that I'm not longing back to a pool or spending time with the family. OH, and wearing whatever the F I want. Total liberation! Most of the time I was hopping around in just my bikini bottoms, FREEDOM AT LAST! Having shared this information with you the outfit I'm wearing in this post will probably make more sense now. So here we go, dungarees and a bikini. Simple as that. And sometimes 'fashion' just needs a little simplicity.

KISSED BY SUNFLOWERS



Good morning love-bugs! How have you been? I'm writing you from France and am happy to say that the weather has been Great (with a capital G) the last few days. Or should I say Hot? Either way, some sun is just what we needed! A happy me results in a happy outfit. I'm usually not a big print person (I don't know why really), but when my eye caught this cute tanktop when I was wondering through the Forever21 I just couldn't leave without taking it with me. So here I am, flowery top, yellow wall and a big smile. Happy holidays!

TWENTY-FIVE TIMES HOORAY



Yesterday was that time of year again, it was ma birthday! Yes yes, I turned 25. Twenty-five. A quarter-century! WHAAA. But you are as old as you feel right? That would make me... uh... 75? Just kidding! Unfortunately it poured all day so we didn't get the chance to lay out or make use of the pool (crazy France!) but if we may believe the weather forecast the upcoming days are gonna be insane (30 degrees and up) so that will make up for lost tanning time.
Enough about that, my birthday. My family and one of my besties who came to visit woke me up with some pretty loud birthday songs. Man, they are blessed with golden voices (NOT). I have to admit, waking up like this makes you happy. We had breakfast (three times hooray for the country that encourages carbs: une baguette s'il vous plait!), I got to open my presents (champagne, super cool Ray Ban sunnies, a silver necklace which I'm never-ever gonna take off anymore, some coconut goodies and sweet words. Also, my parents made me a slide-show with different pictures from when I was a baby till now. So sweet!
Later that afternoon we ate tarte du pomme, drank champagne, played pictionary (yes really!), ate some more, opened another bottle of champagne, watched a Despicable me, had dinner, laughed at each others stories and I ended up planking myself into the sofa. Sounds good huh? If the rain ever thought it could destroy my birthday, it was wrong, HA!

SUMMER VIBIN'

Yup, I think we could say summer is finally making its entrance. I have worn my Levis shorts already (outfit post coming up!), I have sat on my friends balcony while eating some munchies and drinking wine, I have had moments where I secretly thought sh*t I really have to get used to these sweaty temperatures again, and my mood has improved A LOT (I can be really grumpy when it comes to cold, rainy weather).
This summer my parents have rented a house with pool in France and my friend and I are going to Ibiza to stir things up there. Can't wait for both trips! Of course planning holiday trips is one of the things that makes me question my wardrobe most and an urge to start shopping NOW is definitely present at the moment. I would say the perfect wardrobe is a mix of basic tops (some sleeveless tops as well as some loose fit T-shirts), some sleeveless vests to throw over your tops, cut-off denim shorts, some printed kimonos and don't forget a few dresses. Now the mixing and matching can start. Vests like the beige, fringed one in this post (love this cute piece!) can not only be thrown over tops but are also a good asset to pimp up a dress. Top an outfit off with necklaces and big rings and you're ready for summer!

FRINGE KISSES



A little fringe won't hurt anyone, ever. Well ok, almost never. I lost and found the perfect fringe top to wear with basic Levi's shorts like these. Even though this top is aged - a last year sale's treasure - I was pleasantly surprised by the look of it. Basic bottoms, an outspoken top, round retro-looking sunnies and hair down (up in a tight bun would also work really well) and there's your look!

AS IF WE WERE IN HEAVEN

White is the color we are supposed to call a non-color and a non-color that leaves us with plenty of room for interpretation. Hosophobic hospital white, overly in love newlywed white, like a virgin (touched for the very first time) white and heavenly white. Now the fact is that hospitals frighten the hell out of me, I am not married nor have I met anyone that I could image spending the rest of my life with, roughly 97% of all brides that wear white are not actually virgins anymore and heaven is a place of which' existence I highly doubt. Nevertheless, white is a color - or non-color, that immediately brings me in a summer state of mind. And even though I doubt about the existence of heaven, if its existence were to be proven summer would be a piece of it!
