OUTFIT | PREPPING FOR SCHOOL

Photography by Emma O'flynn

Hello hello hello!

I am so sorry for neglecting my posts these last few days. I have been so busy studying, it has practically taken over my social life and the life where I had spare time to do whatever. But I bet you can totally relate to this feeling? Well, enough whining and crying, it's not like I'm dying! (Wow, can't believe that little rhyme just formulated itself this early in the morning). How have you been? Anything special you want to share? I am dying to hear some good stories! Unfortunately I have to stop writing because I need to finish my last exam period 'to-do' thingie (finish, well actually I still have to start, my take-home exam).

Next week I promise to keep you updated more! But for now, keep your fingers crossed for me!

P.S. I couldn't resist posting another picture of my shadowy sibling, just like I did in this post. I guess I am starting to kind of like her! Someone told me that it might be an idea to make her my trademark. Unfortunately there isn't enough sun in Holland to do so, but what do you think? Can you see humor in this giant-like ballerina, or do you think this is just plain stupid?

Braid it or hate it?

Ph | Pinterest, We Heart It

The sun is up, finally! It seems like Mr. Sunshine is really beating Mr Rain-all-day. Bye bye winter clothing, hellooooo summery niceness! Since, if I may be so free to generalize, we can all use some sunshine on our pale faces (or at least, us Dutch people do), I think it's time to get off of the couch and install yourself at the nearest park.

Working on a tanned face means making sure your hair is not in your face (seems logical right?). You can put it up by making a bun or ponytail, but sometimes this just becomes boring. At least, I think so. So why not braid it? There are so so many different ways to braid your hair! (as you can see on these pictures above). Very easy to do (NOTE: it's ok for your braid to be a bit messy. So really, you don't have to be this great hair guru to!) and the looks of it are adorble!

What is your opinion about braids? Braid it or hate it?

OUTFIT | LAUNCHING ZARA FLORALS

Photography by Sharinda Teunissen

Waky waky sunshines!

I have to break it to you immediately: unfortunately I don't have the time to do a lot of writing today since I have to take a 'Production of Culture' exam in the afternoon and am planning on totally focussing on getting my shit right before I enter the lecture hall. Wait, did I just say shit? Must be my nerves talking! Anywho, I know I promised I would show the entire outfit I was wearing to the launch (instead of just my legs), so here you go!

What do you think? Am I approved?

Before it's in fashion, it's in Vogue

Photography by me

Good morning early birds!

As promised, the pictures I took at the Vogue NL launch! I just ones more have to hand it to the editorial team members, who were all so enthusiastic, proud, and more than willing to chat with anyone who was interested. This made the overall atmosphere very relaxed. Good job!

Let me just real quick explain what you are looking at! (I guess it pretty much speaks for itself though, but I just need to talk about this little event ones more! And yes, I can just hear you think: how excited can you get about something like this? Well, VERY excited! I mean, come on, getting involved with a.k.a. working for a magazine like this would be my dream dream DREAM job!)

1.  The Vogue Collector's Editions.
2.  Vogue chocolate (two things us ladies can't live without or don't want to live without, right?).
3.  Fashion lovers eager to have their magazine signed.
4.  Get in line!
5.  YES, it's mine! A collector's edition of the first ever Dutch Vogue! I picked one up for my friend
Rosanna as well, who will probably treat me like a queen in the next couple of days until I hand her her
      copy (HA, how convenient?)
6.   Before it's in fashion, it's in Vogue.
7.  A glass of.. let me guess... prosecco?
8.  Detail shot of the Vogue ribbon wrapped around the leg of wine glass.
9.  Welcome to Vogue Holland!
10. Me with some Vogue shades. My friend Sharinda, who I was with, made it her mission to get her hands
on these sunglasses. Which, after a lot of asking and creeping around, was a mission accomplished! Well
done babe! This picture is especially for you!
11. Zara florals and some 'I'm about 6 feet tall now' heels (on me obviously).
12. Sit back and relax (even though I have to admit that I more so took this pictures because I thought my
pants looked so nicely matchy matchy with these pages, but oh well, ignorance is bliss right?).

I hope you had a little taste of what this event must have been like! Next time something like this happens in the Dutch fashion history, make sure to be there with me so we can be excited together!

Xoxo

P.S. Are you curious about what I was wearing to the launch? I will upload a quick outfit post
        tomorrow!

Let's celebrate Vogue NL!

Photography by me

YES! YES! YES! Finally, the day has come for Vogue to also present itself in Holland. I just went to the Dutch Vogue Magazine launch at the Bijenkorf in Amsterdam and am proud to say that from today on Holland will have her own magazine. (I just know you are smiling right now!)

I will upload the launch pictures first thing tomorrow morning, so stay put!

Trend: pastel passion

Ph | Downtown Magazine NYC, Pintest, We Heart It, Mr. Pinksuedemanolos (blog)

Do you remember how, in my peplum trend post, I came clean about my ignorance regarding the term 'peplum'? Note: ONLY regarding the term itself, not the trend! (That makes is a little less bad I guess!) Well, the trend I am blogging about today is not something you could be ignorant about. Not even if you would want to. It is one that is IN YOUR FACE, all the time! Pastel pastel pastel pastel! I know you have probably had pastel trend posts thrown at you way too many times lately, (since it appears that I am not the only one that is madly in love with this trend) but I just couldn't let this one get away unnoticed. So I hope you beared with me, sat back and enjoyed some more pastel passion!

OUTFIT | PEPLUM

Photography by Cindy Voest

GOOD morning! Rise and shine!

It's Monday already. Did you have a good weekend? I went to the musical Soldaat van Oranje on Friday night. A major production! The theatre is originally an airplane hangar (shed) located on an old airport. The scenery is said to be the greatest ever built. The musical is based on the life of Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema, one of the greatest members of the resistance movement, during World War II. A very intense, tragic, but beautiful story. I would say this is really something you would want to go to if you get the chance!

As I promised in my last post, here you can see how I embraced a peplum top. This outfit is the outfit I wore to the musical. I am finally wearing my new heels, and also just got this new top from the H&M.

What do you think about this peplum top? Is it something you would wear?

Spring/summer trend: peplum

Ph | myfashionbeautytips.com, harpersbazaar.com

Fluffels, frassels, ruffels, ... NO, none of these words describe correctly what is going on in these pictures above. Peplum. Yes, peplum IS the correct word. A few days ago, my friend Sarah, who just started blogging for Life in Fives, told me wisely that this wavy fabric on my top is called 'peplum', not ruffles or any other term I would give it. So I learned something new again! Thanks Sarah!

You now probably think that this is a term I should have long known, but heck, this one apparently just past me by without any notice. Luckily did my ignorance towards this fashion related term not hold me back from noticing this spring trend. Last fall, this spring trend was introduced and now it should be booming and glooming! But.. unfortunately it's not. At least not in Amsterdam (YET!) I haven't seen many people on the streets empower themselves with this look. Because that is what peplum can do for you. It brings out your feminine shape by decorating the hip area and accentuating the waistline.

What do you think? Is peplum hot or not?

P.S. Do you want to see how I wore my new peplum top? Check out my blog tomorrow!

Have a great Sunday loves!

Be creative, bead it up!

Ph | me

WEEKS ago I fell in love with this H&M sheer top. Short sleeves, good material and a collar full of little beads. Simple but cute. Before my falling in love with this top, I had come across some articles saying how you could easily pimp up your collar. So... I decided then that spending my money on something I could make myself (without spending as much) would be ridiculous and bought a plain white sheer top (twenty euro's!) and a small bag of silver beads (not even two euro's if I recall) and started sewing. I have to admit, it took some time and patience (mainly patience) but it saved me twenty euro's! Just go up and down the collar with a long thread, and one by one add a bead. I am pretty pleased myself! What do you think, did it work out well?

TIP: If you are not an advanced seamstress don't flip the collar over anymore, because that is not a really pretty picture. 'A spider's web of threads' describes the look of this perfectly haha.

CoCo Cocktail

Ph | Pinterest, We Heart It

Last night, my friend Lisette and I went to this place called NJOY, a cocktail bar. I had never been there before but after last night I will definitely be going there more often. It's a great place, très chique! The interior looks really trendy or 'hip' if you prefer to call it that. The saying 'I wouldn't be caught dead in this place' definitely does not apply here. You would want to be caught here, rather alive than dead though!

We both had two cocktails (I could have drunk twenty, so delicious!). My favorite was the Italian Black Stallion with, as shown in the menu, dark raspberries, hints of black coffee and a vanilla cream top with hazelnut and dark chocolate. TO DIE FOR! So to everyone who lives in Amsterdam, or is visiting Amsterdam, go get your cocktails (and don't forget your cash-filled wallet, this will definitely be needed)!

P.S. Don't these pictures just make you want to taste them all? Right now! I know this might sound a bit crazy at 1.00 p.m., but hey, can you blame a girl for fantasizing about beautifully decorated cocktails to start off her day in a dreamy way?! The way these cocktails are 'dressed up' makes them look as if they are taking off for the Oscars. Maybe these drinks have more fashion in them than we think...

OUTFIT | SUNNY SUNDAYS

Photography by Cindy Voest

Lovelies! Good morning!

Yet another new week is waiting for us. A sunny one, if I may believe the weather forecast. So bring it on! These pictures were taken yesterday (Sunday), when the sun was doing a great job as you can see. It was the first time I actually sat outside (a bit cold still, but we are getting there). Hopefully many more of those days to come!

My sister, who took the pictures, will probably call me crazy for uploading the shadow picture of me, but I just could not resist. I thought it was pretty funny, but maybe that is just me haha. Fact is that I am tall, but this shadowy me looks as if I am eight feet tall! Oh well, us tall girls need to embrace our 'giant-like' life right?!

Have a great first day of the week!

OUTFIT | FLOWERBOMB

'

Photography by Emma O'flynn

Goooooodmoring!

Did you sleep well? We took these pictures two days ago. I woke up really early to go to the gym. It was cold out, but the sun was coming through and I clearly saw a blue sky. And if there is something you can make me happy with then it is blue skies and sunrays. I was in a good mood all day! Yes, ALL day! AND wearing my new floral sheer top. Even though the temperature is not quit there yet, I am sure we will be seeing a lot more florals appear on the streets in the upcoming weeks.

GO florals, GO blue skies, GO sunny days!
