India diary

Photography by me

YES! Finally I am able to show you the first few pictures of my trip to India. It feels like an unfair thing to do, leave the multiple hundred other pictures out of my blogpost, but I obviously understand that it wouldn't be possible showing them all to you! Therefore I decided to upload a few blogposts this week and next week (because NO, even though I have decided not to 'bore' you with two thousand pictures, I really can't pick only 20 pictures to show to you), so I can feed you with small portions of India fun!

A short travel summery of all the places in Northern India my family and I have seen in two weeks:

- Jaipur
- Mandawa
- Agra
- Khajuraho
- Orcha
- Varanasi
- Delhi

Trying to explain what I have experienced in India is like trying to walk on one hand and one foot, it feels like an impossible thing to do. When I look the pictures I took I (to myself) can almost bring back the smell, but to really get across what India did to me is very difficult. I can proudly say that I have had the luck to visit many countries and experience many cultures, but India was something totally different. It is a whole unique world to itself. It did not look or feel like any place I have ever been. The heat, the amount of people, the smell, their language, the power of the Hindo religion, the colored sarees that the women wear, the dirt, the beautiful resorts amidst houses built out of trash, extreme poverty, and so many more things! In two weeks, I have never had to take on so many impressions and when I came back to Amsterdam I was actually more tired than before we left. Crazy right, considering it being a holiday trip? But gosh no, I wouldn't have missed it for the world! I feel that it is very important to experience the way other people in this world live, just to be able to reflect on your own life and maybe put things in a different perspective (or do I sounds really corny now?). So yes, even though there where times during those two weeks that I really just wanted my own bed, a good shower and some fresh air, I would definitely encourage people who are thinking of grabbing their bags to go to India.

Go for it!

P.S. More India pictures are on their way!
